Being complete in Christ is the best news we could ever hear, and receiving this good news brings the greatest joy anyone could ever have.  However, have you noticed how quickly we forget this truth? When life gets hard, when troubles come, when we become too busy or when we get distracted by fear or success, we so easily lose sight of who we are. We need constant reminding of the fact that we are in Christ.  To help us with this consider these four powerful ways we are complete in Christ:

  1. WE ARE COMPLETE SPIRITUALLY

When we believe in Jesus and accept Him as our Lord and Saviour we have been born again in Him. This means we are made spiritually whole children of God. We cannot be partly born. We are either born or unborn. There is no middle. Even though we are babies, we are born as a whole person.  Christ’s work for us is perfectly complete even if we still have some growing to do. The Holy Spirit will continue to work in us, making us more like Jesus. For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and you have been given fullness (made complete) in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority. (Colossians 2:9,10)

  1. WE HAVE COMPLETE ACCESS TO GOD

Being chosen, called, and adopted, means you have direct access to God the Father through Jesus. It doesn’t matter how important, rich or powerful your dad is, you can go to him at any time.  The only person that could walk into a President, Prime Minister, or king’s bedroom at 1am and ask for a glass of water is his child. This gives us only a glimpse of what it means to be a child of God. “In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.” (Eph 3:12)

  1. WE HAVE COMPLETE FORGIVENESS

The truth is, God the Father has nothing against those who are in Christ! “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” (Psalm 13:11,12) “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Cor 5:21) This means that Jesus became our sin and paid for it on the Cross. It would be unjust for God to demand payment for our sin a second time. We can rest in the freedom of being right with God.

  1. WE HAVE COMPLETE VICTORY

Another aspect of being in Christ is that we have complete victory. “And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.” (Col 2:15) This does not mean we will not suffer in our lives, but we have what we need to overcome fear, sin, unbelief and all those things that come between us and God! “This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.” (1 John 5:3-4)

So, how do you feel when these four truths are realised by your heart?  Does it strengthen and empower you to go and make disciples of all nations? This is on the heart of God.
