The only way we can be used by God to build His Kingdom on earth is to put on His full armor as described in Ephesians 6:13-18. Read and apply the following and be encouraged to fight the good fight.
- Buckle the belt of truth around your waist
We must choose to trust in the truth of God’s Word and His plan for us. To allow His truth to fill our hearts and free us from dishonesty and hidden sin.
- Cover your heart with the breastplate of righteousness
We all have certain areas in our lives where we are most vulnerable to temptation or attack. We don’t have to be perfect to be shielded, but we must place our trust in Jesus and rely on His purity and holiness to cover past sin and strengthen and protect our hearts.
- Protect your feet with the shoes of the gospel of peace
We then allow God to guide our feet as we follow His calling on our life. To be prepared to stand and battle against the forces of evil that tempt us to wander off the pathway to eternal life and fill us with fear and anxiety.
- Use the shield of faith to protect yourself from spiritual attacks
We must ask the Lord to strengthen our faith so that we use it to step out for Him. Then no “flaming arrow,” in the form of spiritual attack, can cause us to fall into sin or cause us to doubt and lose heart.
- Wear the helmet of salvation to protect your mind
Relying on the knowledge of the Gospel of Christ will protect our minds from questions and doubts about God, our salvation, and how we should follow Him. Sin aways starts out as a thought, so wearing our helmet keeps our minds clear and focused so we can be His warriors.
- Carry the sword of the spirit
Take up your only weapon which is the Word of God. We do this by reading Scripture daily, memorizing verses that strengthen us, and asking God to show us the words we need to hear. This will protect us from weakness, discouragement and despair, and enable us to stand against the evils of oppression, injustice, false beliefs and persecution.
7. Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
